Get to Know Melanie

Melanie Gonzalez, PsyD, LMFT #116208, (she/her) is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences in the State of California. Dr. Gonzalez is the founder of Grounded Connections Counseling. Dr. Gonzalez received her Masters degree from Syracuse University in Marriage and Family Therapy and her Doctorate of Psychology (PsyD) from Alliant International University. She received a Certificate of Advanced Study in Trauma from Syracuse University. Dr. Gonzalez is trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 1 & 2). Dr. Gonzalez is a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (CAMFT).
Currently, Dr. Gonzalez is pursing an AAMFT Approved Supervisor certification by supervising Marriage and Family Therapy student trainees. Dr. Gonzalez also teaches Masters level clinicians as adjunct faculty at Chapman University. Additionally, Dr. Gonzalez has a podcast (with co-host Chelze Zamani, LMFT) called Human Conversations, which discusses mental health topics through an intersectional lens.
Dr. Gonzalez truly cares for all of her clients, and works diligently to help find them the answers they seek. Since 2013, Dr. Gonzalez has worked with a variety of clients dealing with circumstances that are unique to their lives and have witnessed their growth and healing.
